5 days in Paris

These 5 days in Paris in Paris were some of the most beautiful I've spent in Europe so far. We could walk for hours and explore every street and still find something beautiful in every alleyway. Spent the days sight seeing, walking around Montmartre and Butte aux Cailles, admiring street artists, shopping at various markets, and trying too many french pasteries. The Eiffel Tower was beautiful, but it didn't compare to the those little streets that tourists would never come across. If there was one place I could live someday, this would be it.

The Wait

The night before the Faschingsparty we stood in line for over two hours to get tickets, which isn't nearly as bad as it sounds when the they serve hot spiced wine for one Euro and the weather is so beautiful. Spring has finally arrived in Munich... students were grilling in the courtyard yesterday and the crocuses have come up everywhere, which is surely a good sign :)

Fasching!

I just got back from Paris late last night, and there are a whole lot of pictures waiting to be posted from that trip, but the weekend before I left, it was Fasching in Munich! Fasching is Munich's version of Karneval, where everyone gets dressed up and the city turns into a giant party. Going out at night was great, but even before noon, Marienplatz was full of confetti, blaring music, stage performers, and stands selling wine and cocktails. Too bad this holiday only comes around once a year...

A Weekend in Frankfurt

 After returning from Berlin, I had two days to pack for a weekend in Frankfurt, the city I was born in. I hadn't been back for 21 years, so it was really my first time seeing the city. My favorite part had to be all those beautiful birds flying right around us and the view us from the bridge over the Main. It was also my first time using Mitfahrgelegenheit, a German hitchhiking site, to get up to Frankfurt. With just a little bit of gas money I had to chip in, it was much cheaper than taking the train, and I met some really nice people, so if you're in Germany I would definitely recommend it.
