Exams are coming

 The last two weeks have been the busiest since I arrived in Munich. I have 4 exams next week and 2 work presentations. A major difference here is that we don't get midterm grades.. or any kind of grades throughout the semester at all. I have classes where I've never had anything graded returned and I have absolutely no idea how I'm doing. Hoping this next week goes well.. 5 days to get through and then 3 months off...

Two weeks

Kunstsalon

Like most good things, it started with a glass of wine and talk about art. I was invited to the studio of a very talented Polish artist, Katharina Goldyn, for an exhibit and a chance to meet other artists in Munich. The night was a mix of art, music, literature, and lots of wine. I got a chance to talk to a few artists, one of whom used to live in Texas, and invited me and two friends to his trailer the following day to "drink red wine, smoke cigars, and talk art."

New year, new adventures

A collection of photos from the last two weeks: A visit to Schloss Neuschwanstein and Schloss Hohenschwangau (two very beautiful castles in the winter time), making homemade gnocci (a tradition since my stay in Rome) and Chardonnay to go with it. A nighttime Fleamarket, a visit to the Hofbräuhaus for Deutsches Bier, admiring artwork at the Brandhorst Museum (a must see if you're in Munich), and a walk in the English Garden. Now it's back to classes and all the work that goes with it. It has been unusually warm lately.. all the snow has melted and people are losing the winter jackets and eating outside. We can only hope for an early spring! xx

Salzburg

 My best friend came to visit me from America and after we'd spent a week exploring Munich, we decided it was time for a change of scenery so we took a train down to Salzburg. We walked around the city, toured Mozart's birth house, and ended the night at a local brewery. One of the things I love most about Germany is that five Euros and a two hour train ride can get you to a completely different country..
